New Volkswagen Jetta question?

-I recently bought a brand new 2011 Volkswagen Jetta (SEL), I was told not to allow the engine go over 3000 rpm's before i reach a certain milage on the car. Is that true? If so, how many miles should I wait before I can drive it a little harder?
