the clutch did not just go it was worn and you just broke the camels back as we say.
so yes you could need a new clutch, but in the interests of your bank balance change the lot and not just the clutch plate as if you don't the whole thing will have to come apart again to do the other bits with in a month so replace the thrust bearing the clutch cover and the clutch plate otherwise you will be back to the garage when the the cover or the bearing fails later. and the labour charges will cripple you. in the bank and pocket.
sounds like a clutch to me there ez to fix about 500 to 700 in a shop or if you do it your self 150 to 200 a clutch pretty ez cost of the clutch and have the fly wheel cut a clutch is around 150 to 200 at napa,auto zone, O'Reilly's and about $35 to have the fly wheel cut

Manual or Automatic for a G35 coupe in central WI?
-So i plan on buying a G35 coupe but I'm not sure if i want a manual or automatic. I can say I'm not the best at manual but will learn more as time passes. People also say you loose power with a automatic which is true do you really loose that much! Also i drive basically 50% highway and 50% city. There is also very big snow storms during the winter, an average we get is about 4-11ft of snow every winter! Yikes. So with these information can you folks help me decide if i should get manual or automatic. Thanks!This is pretty much a wash. My 1998 Chevy Malibu is overheating?
-We have changed the thermostat, the tubing, and the radiator. It tends to stay mid-way if the heat is on full blast, but it has still overheated twice. When it does the coolant comes bubbling out of the tank. Don't know what else to try.Have you checked to see if the cooling fan is turning on? That would be my guess. Let the motor get up to normal temperature and then watch for the electric fan to turn on as it gets hotter. Just don't let it get to the point that it's boiling over. If it doesn't turn on, you'll have to diagnose the problem with the fan...relay, fuse, wiring or even a bad fan.

'98 Saturn SL2 will not start? Tried almost everything, please help!?
-We have a 1998 Saturn SL2 that will not start and we have checked the starter, and fuses, replaced the starter relay, and battery, and it still will not start. Any ideas? When we turn the key it does not click. The radio doesn't come on, the lights do come on. My husband is checking the ignition switch now and then they will be checking the neutral safety switch. -bolted on so you need metric socket and extension and ratchet and go for it. You will probably need another oil pan gasket.It is bolted on. I don't know the year you are asking, so who knows what size? But make sure you have a new gasket... also make sure the floor is covered, nobody want's staines on the concrete!

-okay so my car has been over heating,its a 2005 Hyundai Elantra.. ive never had any major problems with it other then replacing the battery.. it has about 85000km. So i took it into the garage today get a call saying the rad has to be replace as well as the cylinder gasket.. im told its rather labour intensive.. and im looking around 1300... does that seem right?If the head gasket needs to be replaced then yes the labor is about right. However I would take it to the dealership for a second opinion. Too bad, 1 year outside of the warranty.

I suggest you talk to the finance manager at the dealership you bought the car and ask him what you can and cannot do, his job is to know all the ins and outs of the warranty problems with the dealership cars and he is the go to guy for the dealership issues.

1994 Ford Taurus GL Dash Lights Dont Work?
-I have a 1994 Ford Taurus and the dash lights don't work, well the cruise, turn signals and those lights work, just basically the important ones. The speedometer, and the other gauges.
I have checked the fuses, and one was blown, but not for the dash. Replaced it. Still doesn't work. The other strange thing that has happened is the stereo has suddenly stopped working, well it comes on, then turns off, and basically doesn't come back on. Sometimes you can hit the dash and it may come on, but only for a few seconds.
I replaced the wiring harness because when I pulled out the stereo if you moved the connection around the stereo would come in an out, so I figured it was a bad connection. Replaced, it still doesn't work. It comes on, has power, plays for a few seconds then it goes out. Still has power, just no sound.
I have the whole dash torn off right now so I hope someone can help me figure out what could be wrong.
I checked the dimmer switch, it is turned all the way up. The only wires that I seen that need be replaced is the head light switch, it looks like the harness got hot and melted a bit. But my headlights work fine.

How do i fix lock door on 97 ford explorer if lock shut an cant be opened?
-did you try unlocking it from the rear door or passenger door? Once opened, I cut the wire to mine...it still locks from the passenger side.. or replace the solenoid..There are tools that slip between the door frame and window glass that can be used to open the door but if you don't know what you're doing you could do damage that will cost more than having a locksmith open the door for you. Once the door is open it's rather easy to remove the trim panel to get inside and look for what broke.

Why does my Jeep's engine rev up and down when I start it cold?
-I have 2006 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited. When I start it in the morning the engine doesn't idle like it used to- it revs up and down for about 45 seconds until it stabilizes. The car has 65,000 miles on it. Is this a problem? If so, what is the fix and what will it approximately cost?

-Well heres the deal, i got this awsome civic for a freakin low price, its in top shape condition and everything, i really wanted to have it manual tho, but i just couldnt say no to that deal...so now i really want to port that tranny to manual. I have a 2003 350z and my car starts and all but i just cant get into any gear at all. the car just rolls. any?

93 volvo 850 glt dies! Help...?
-I have a 93 850 glt non turbo that dies when idle. Not ALWAYS but very very often. When we got it the lights up by the rear view mirror didn't work, bit didn't really care because the car was running perfectly fine. Every now and then theres also a smell of gas coming from the car. Now when we drive its fine as long as we have a foot on the gas pedal constantly. Not much pressure, but just enough to keep it from dying at stop lights, stop signs etc. We usually throw it into N while were stopped. We replaced the fuel pump and the MAF, but nothing. The car actually refuses to run with the MAF plugged in.... Anyone else have this problem? Or at least heard of it? Do you think its the entire wiring system? Sometimes when you apply the brakes, the ABS light will come on and brakes become hard to press and blinkers will not work. But if you hit the car underneath the steering wheel, close to the ignition, the ABS light goes off and the blinkers and brakes work just fine. Also, the brake light comes on on the dash when you apply brakes, but the brake lights work perfectly fine. None of them are out. Like wtf. Heeeeeelp!An aerated brake system will cause the brake light to come on while braking. As of the ABS. The pump module could be going out. It is false ABS braking causing premature activation. A hard brake pedal is also an indication of poor vacuum to the brake booster or a failure of that part. By hitting the area under the ignition switch you could be intermittently disabling the ignition switch and resetting the computer perimeters.

-Amplifier may have a fuse or a reset button on the unit (that was the case on our '99). It is in the console behind the head unit.Typically factory speakers are not fused. The radio will be fused and if there is one the amp should be fused.

I have a burnt valve in a 1999 ford escort. what's a "quick fix" until i can save to have it repaired?
-It doesn't leak or overheat. The spark plug in the burnt valve doesn't give power. My car stall alot on the take off but once going pass 15MPH, it drives good! There is a faint "ticking" sound though. How long before the engines goes bad? what can i do to keep it going until i can have the heads replaced?Sad news, your engine is already bad. You need a new Cylinder head. A head, new head bolts and gasket set is around 500 dollars on ebay, plus mechanics fees (should be 300-600 depending on mechanics rates) so you are looking at around 1000 for a repair. That would be the safe bet, but some people do what is in the following paragraphs. The problem is, that that costs between 200-500 at a shop, and you still have the old head...I figure better be safe than sorry. Eventually you will loose the cylinder compression completely and the car will run like crap, if at all. It is only a matter of time, there is no real way to tell. It is on borrowed time.

-The service light also comes on. it is an intermittent fault. had it checked on computer to no avail. the warning was showing when it was checked. -I just bought a super 44 dual outlet muffler that I'm welding dual exhaust to. My car is only a v6 and I've heard that the sound comes out a little ricey. Will the duals and a cold air intake deepen the sound? Should the timing belt be changed when the water pump is replaced on a 99 VW Beetle?
-I had the head redone with all misc part replaced, on 5/4/2011, cost around $2200, (thank god I had a warranty!) no more than a month on 05/12/2011 my temp light came on. Had the water pump replaced ....The the car just quit & wouldn't start. So I had a mechanic look at it & He stated that there was NO way the water pump was ever replaced. And then he went on to tell me that 3 valves came unseeded. God I am SOOOO sick of this car!! WTF!!!! Some body help me!If the water pump is driven by the timing belt it always gets replaced when a water pump that is leaking gets replaced. The antifreeze from the leaking water pump ruins a timing belt and any professional mechanic would never reuse the soaked old timing belt, it will only jump time and bend valves.Unfortunatly, it is better that you know what work needs to be done and how to do it. For the record the timing belt needs to be replaced at 100,000 miles and every 60,000 miles there after. Everything that touches the timing belt needs to be replaced when the timing belt is replaced. Normally just the water pump. You should always ask the mechanic for the old parts so that you know they have been replaced. But, it is even better if you can do the work yourself. WTF.

Door chime rings when playing radio in Jeep Wrangler?

Help with dumpvalve and double wastegate on turbo?
-I have bought a new turbo for my car with double wastegate. I have got the car to work as i should, but no dumpvalve will work, no matter what. I have tried 4 different dump valves, even on 1.5 bar it wont go off.
I have a Volvo 940 Turbo 1995 mod, and when i had the stock turbo i only needed like 0.3 - 0.4 bar to make the dumpvalve go off.
So now i can't figure out how to fix this, do the double wastegate on my turbo make the problem ?
On my turbo now it's only one wastegate that is used, and one is open. Should i connect them both together?

Trail blazer or chevy equinox?
-Both are great SUVs but I like the Equinox a little more. It was just named a 2011 IIHS Top Safety Pick meaning it did extremely well in its crash tests. Plus the Equinox gets great gas mileage. Definitely check it out!

-Wanting to get a 2007 Jeep Wrangler. I have a 10ft by 6ft trailer. I was wanting to know if the Jeep can pull it with 2 Harleys. When on the trailer its 1600lb. The official BS says the tongue weight will unweight the front tires and make them unstable. Can i easily swap a 302 ho from an 86 mustang into a 84 mustang?
-i have an 84 mustang gt with a 351w and i wanted to swap the engine with an 86 efi 302 i talked to this guy and he said i would have to change k members and all that good stuff. is it as simple as dropping it in or would it be a big project? (minus all the wiring)the 84 mustang did not come 351 of any type, some one most have put a 351 in .you said the 351w is it is almost the same block as a 302. the 351w has a taller deck then a 302 the engine mounts and trans mounts are the same so yes 86 302 will bolt right in the 84 probably had a 302 when it came from the factory. 84 mustang came with a 302, 3.8l v6 , 2.3 4cyl and a turbo 4cyl the the v6 was droped in 86 and did not come back till 1994.
Can anybody tell me how to change the fuel line in a 2000 Buick LeSabre?
-It is leaking gas right above the motor and it looks like it would be easy to just replace the rubber hose and attachment. But, no, you have to replace the whole fuel line which runs under the car all the way to the back where the fuel filter is. I looks like there are just some rubber clamps of some kind holding three such metal lines together and the one that is leaking is the center one. I know the back end attaches directly to the fuel filter. Is this something a woman in her late fifties can do by herself?That's a hard question to answer without knowing exactly what's wrong. These hoses are made as assemblies because they hold a lot of pressure and by eliminating clamps and such, there is much less chance of leaks. It also depends where it's leaking, is it the flexible part that's cracked, the metal part, or is the leak at the connection, like an o-ring? These lines don't normally leak unless they are damaged somehow, or manhandled when someone took them apart. Whether or not you can fix it yourself is hard to say. The connections may need a release tool to get loose, and if it's a flare nut connection at the filter, they can be really hard to get loose if they are rusty at all. I guess it depends how determined you are, what tools you have, and how dexterous you are.

305 high output heads on a 350 sbc?
-My question is that I have a engine from a 1972 Chevrolet C10 this is a stock 350 4bolt main with a 4 bbl and the compression ratio is 8.0:1, I heard that you can install a set of 305 heads to bring up the compression ratio. I just so happen to have a set of 305 high output heads (cast #416) and I was wondering what work I have to get done to the heads so they can perform good on this engine. I also have a comp cam xe262 (.462/.469) it also has a edelbrock performer air gap intake and a bunch of other goodies and I'm hoping to squeeze enough power out of this block as I can without spending too much. I'm open to ideas or suggestions ???Port and polish your existing heads, and ask if it's possible to mill them about .001 or so to boost compression. Probably your easiest and cost-effective solution.

-I have looked in the owners manual and it dont help. We replaced our air compressor not too long ago so I am thinking it is a fuse but I can not find out where the fuse is that goes to the air conditioner.

In beginning days i got 14-16 kpl only (without ac as those were harsh winter days here).I learnt driving in beginning days.After first service milege rises by 1 kpl more (without ac).
Then when i become perfectionist in driving in april,i changed my driving style and now getting 17-18 kpl (With 70% AC).Just try to use as less clutch as you can & try to drive on the highest possible gear.Most inportantly try to keep it near or below 80 kph only.I know its a little hard task in i10 as it always try to reach above 100 kph.This is my funda.
These all figures are for driving on remote highways with very less traffic only.The conditions here are so easy that,i never require to press the brake even in 100 kms.I simply press the accelartor and go to sleep on driving seat :D.Its a remote area.One day i reached from jaisalmer to outside bikaner (320 kms. distance) by pressing brake 2 times only.I think that should be registered in limca book of records.
I have no idea about what'll be its milege in bumper to bumper traffic of metro cities or crowded highways like punjab,haryana.
So the conclusion is you'll get milege anywhere between 10-19 depending upon the driving conditions.

94 civic ex overheat issue?
-quick question. 94 Civic EX just less than 300,000 miles. Swapped out a rusted leaky radiator for my sister yesterday due to overheat issue. Fluid was brown and milky. Brand new radiator installed, system flushed. No leaks after swap. Car overheated again and radiator was filled with milky brown fluid. Radiator still leaking fluid but not externally. I suspect cracked water jackets and the fluid to be a mix of oil and antifreeze. Thoughts?Overheating and oil in coolant fluid means a blown head gasket, most likely. Or a cracked head if you are unlucky.
the problem started long before you got there, that is rusty water which is BAD because a vehicle needs antifreeze for a reason and in order for water to rust like that requires years of abuse And since this radiator probem was not fixed a lot sooner its likely now a blown head gasket. At this point check the oil if its milky or foamy park the car. In all likely hood you had an air pocket after the new radiator and flush, you need to work those out first. I flush the vehicle as best I can, fill it up, drive it for less than ten minutes and park it. Let it cool down and watch the overflow bottle. If the system is working correctly it sucks the coolant back into the radiator as it cools, getting rid of any air pockets. The radiator should be full by this time, then fill the overflow as needed and your good to go. If the radiator does not suck the coolant back into it as it cools, replace the radiator cap, they do go bad. Another thing that happens is if you did not back flush the radiator and the engine water jackets, rust builds up on the bottom, well now the system is clean and working right, the waterpump is scouring the layer of rust up you need to dump and refill the rusty water, you do not want pockets of rust inside the engine this can create a hot spot which is not a good thing. So, have patience flush some more water (dont use any more coolant until the rust problem is solved, its wasting money) iTS unlikely a water jacket has cracked, its a lot more likely the head gasket has gone. good luck, if the head gasket is border line you can try bars leak the black goo in a can, old timeer car racers love that stuff, and if the radiator is good, (I know the water pump is, it blasted all that rust loose off the bottom of the water jackets) then it should help its worth a try, makes everything black and oily,in the radiator, but it has a water pump lube which is CRITICAL RIGHT NOW, and it may fix the head gasket issue at least for a while. good luck

Red or orange Kia Soul?
-Hey guys! I am debating on whether I should purchase an orange or red Kia Soul. The red is cute and comfy, while I feel like the orange is warm and sporty. Is Nissan 370z a worthwhile upgrade from 350z?
-I currently drive a 2003 350z, it is a almost a perfect car and i love the look, reliability, speed, comfort, and value of my 350z. For my next car i am thinking about getting a upgrade to a more expensive used European sport car like the Mercedes Benz sl500, BMW M3 and etc. However, my research tells me these higher end European cars are extremely unreliable. I want a car that is sexy, fast, fun, reliable, and a great value for the money. Does a 370z beats out sl500, M3 and etc in the above categories?370Z has a low roof line making it hard to get into and out of. For around 40 k 370Z is a bargan. What are the best tires to put on a 01 honda accord that does some desert driving?

The best tire I have ever used and been 110% happy with for performance, Rain, or shine are the Falken 452 series tires. I have the 205/40ZR17 on my Civic SiR and i never once lost traction. They grip the road like you wouldn't believe, great for high temp roads, and i have never hydroplaned hitting puddles in wet weather. Look into them. They really are great tires. Hope this helped.

All these were except Grand Cherokee which is a car that has no place in the jeep family it is confy reliable fast and comes with everything standard!
If you have to buy a jeep at least buy the grand cherokee or buy a chevy or a gmc which offers alot more for the same if not less price!

Probably having the option of 4 wheel drive would be good to have. You don't see too many of those Battery powered cars in a screaming snow storm. We expect to get 200,000 miles out of this bad boy.

-Where the hell does it come out of?Depends on what airbag your talking about. For the passanger side dash airbag it literally will rip right out of the dash right above the glove box in between the 4 vents where the word AIRBAG is indented in the dash and yes the airbag ruins the dash when used on the 07 grandprix for side air bags it will deploy from the roof where it says airbags if equipped I get how it can be confusing because the dash is completely smooth with no pre cut spots but for your future reference on every car where it says airbag that is where the airbag is at and will deploy from.The word Airbag will appear on the dash per it's location.

My wife's 2002 has about 120K miles on it so it is no surprise it is not showing any sign of battery weakness. My 2002 has about 148K miles and also shows no sign of weakness. Is my gas mileage what it should be?
-I have a 2006 Mitsubishi Eclipse GS, I decided that I wanted to see how many miles I could get on a single tank if I "babied" it, meaning no fast starts, no racing around, no speeding, stuff like that... I'm at half a tank with my trip odometer at 200 miles, which means 400 miles to a tank and my fuel capacity is 17.7 Gal ... is this as good as i can get it, or can I get even more out of my car and how? ......also, I have heard that it is okay to run the A/C high and it not effect gas mileage because of the newer technology, is that true?Converting your car to lpg gas is deffinately a good idea, with petrol at 拢1.37 now gas is deff a better plan. But you have been told wrong, gas uses just as much as petrol, so turn it off. Try to guess stopping so you don't use breaks and no speeding and get into 5th as soon as doing 25/30 mph. -Im thinking about buying a 2002 Honda Civic Si for the a used car dealer. It is in pretty good condition. No Mods. My only concern is that it has 130,000 miles. How many years will it last if i buy it.It's not the miles OR the years, it's how well the owner maintains it and how it was driven, along with how it was broken in. Most owners are unaware of how to properly break in an engine, so we can assume it was not broken in properly. They probably followed the owners manual, which, contrary to popular belief, is NOT the right way for engine longevity or power.

V6 supercharged or v8?????????????
-If i was to put a super charger on a v6 charger/mustang ect. would it be as quick as the v8? -I have just bought a used 2009 Corolla S. The used car price matched kelley blue book (before the fees) so i made sure I want being cheated. No money down. I did notice something odd about the car but could not figure it out (you will find out, below). Clean carfax history (had 2 owners). 1st owner made a fleet purchase (whatever the hell that is), and the second owner only used it for 6 months, and then traded it in or a Chevrolet, which is where i bought the car, at a chevrolet dealership.

-normally this engine applies on luxury and sporty, but is there a option to fit this in mid sized compact regardless of its price?1st off there's nothing sporty about a diesel.. Secondly, the logistics of putting the Audi 4.2L which is longitudely mounted in all it's current applications, in a compact car which would likely have a transversely mounted engine, would be very difficult. The cost of the project would likely exceed the value of of the car 5 or 6 times over. I'm sure it can be done with enough money. But it's not a practical idea at all. The chassis would have to be extensively modified to fit the engine, a new suspension would be required, and there would be many custom one-off parts needed.

3.5 v6 nissan altima not starting?
-I have had this problem once a month for the past couple months,my car wont start but the battery is new and the starter is working.I took it to the same shop because they can always take my car and have it back same day or next morning.The shop has been putting dry gas in and it has been fixing the problem,but it keeps on happening,it happens about once a month.My car has 130,000 miles,the shop i take it to does good work and are certified mechanics, if i can get it in the shop im gonna ask to get the fuel filter and maybe spark plugs checked,does anybody know what this problem could be or anything else i should have looked at?

I have called to book it in, and they now want me to pay 拢199.99 for a full blown service. Last year it was 拢189.99, and the year before it was 拢149!!
Now, i can go elsewhere but need to go somewhere which has approved Peugeot parts and is VAT registered.
As silly as it sounds, has anyone had a car on finance and gone elsewhere to get it serviced? I want to keep the car at the end of my 3 year agreement next year....so i cant see a problem, other than if something goes wrong with my car which was undertaken in the service, Peugeot wont cover it under their warranty! Please help. Elsewhere for a top notch service, in Kwikfit or Mr Clutch are charging 拢165 max!!!

You're obviously not living in the real world
That's a perfectly reasonable price for a main dealer service.
Never take a car to KwikFit or Halfrauds for a service, they use cheap parts and will add on all sorts of charges at the end.
