-It will move slowly at low gas, but if I gas it too much it revs. I can also put it in all gear and idle and it won't stall, the engine just revs up and down. Its a 1992 bmw 318is 2.5 4cylHi
the clutch did not just go it was worn and you just broke the camels back as we say.
so yes you could need a new clutch, but in the interests of your bank balance change the lot and not just the clutch plate as if you don't the whole thing will have to come apart again to do the other bits with in a month so replace the thrust bearing the clutch cover and the clutch plate otherwise you will be back to the garage when the the cover or the bearing fails later. and the labour charges will cripple you. in the bank and pocket.
sounds like a clutch to me there ez to fix about 500 to 700 in a shop or if you do it your self 150 to 200 a clutch pretty ez cost of the clutch and have the fly wheel cut a clutch is around 150 to 200 at napa, auto zone, O'Reilly's and about $35 to have the fly wheel cut

Be a little nicer to a 92 318i! She's a great old gal, but old all the same.
I have a 95 318 vert & she's fun, but she's no 328...get it?
It's probably the throw-out bearing. You need a new clutch
Might have damaged some of the gears on your clutch

Manual or Automatic for a G35 coupe in central WI?
-So i plan on buying a G35 coupe but I'm not sure if i want a manual or automatic. I can say I'm not the best at manual but will learn more as time passes. People also say you loose power with a automatic which is true do you really loose that much! Also i drive basically 50% highway and 50% city. There is also very big snow storms during the winter, an average we get is about 4-11ft of snow every winter! Yikes. So with these information can you folks help me decide if i should get manual or automatic. Thanks! This is pretty much a wash. There will be more automatics to pick from - the manual was offered only with the complete 6MT package - so that may settle it right there.
There are losses in any transmission, though they tend to be a bit more pronounced in slushboxes. Then again, nobody except EPA robots do most of their driving on dynos. I think you can safely say this is a non-issue.
As far as winter weather goes, a set of decent winter tires - or the lack thereof - will make far more of a difference than who's doing the shifting.
i don't think there is that much loss of power with an automatic, that you would
notice, all in what you like, the auto is always in the right gear, in town and passing
on the highway. one less problem to worry about in town when driving in deep
snow. some like the shifting of a straight stick, i have had both and an Auto
wins in the end by far. in the winter on ice or slick roads, i just shift to neutral
when trying to stop,
Because of the winter driving you don't want a coupe. They are only rear wheel drive and suck in the snow. Go with a G35x which has AWD that the computer switches back to RWD at 25 mph or if the snow button is activated the vehicle goes up to 45 mph before switching back to RWD.
me personally like manual and ne ways its a g35 coupe its a sports car man go manual all the way lol
automatic

Any porsche boxsters offer automatic transmission?
-None of the current Boxsters are offered with an automatic - the car comes standard with a traditional manual gearbox, and the PDK transmission is available as an option (this is a dual clutch system that is a true manual gearbox, but shifts similar to the older Tiptronic). The Tiptronic (which is an automatic gearbox) was offered as an option on all Boxster models prior to the introduction of PDK in 2009.Yes and most are bought that way.
i think what paul was trying to say was 'yes boxsters can come with automatic transmission'
