93 volvo 850 glt dies! Help...?

-I have a 93 850 glt non turbo that dies when idle. Not ALWAYS but very very often. When we got it the lights up by the rear view mirror didn't work, bit didn't really care because the car was running perfectly fine. Every now and then theres also a smell of gas coming from the car. Now when we drive its fine as long as we have a foot on the gas pedal constantly. Not much pressure, but just enough to keep it from dying at stop lights, stop signs etc. We usually throw it into N while were stopped. We replaced the fuel pump and the MAF, but nothing. The car actually refuses to run with the MAF plugged in.... Anyone else have this problem? Or at least heard of it? Do you think its the entire wiring system? Sometimes when you apply the brakes, the ABS light will come on and brakes become hard to press and blinkers will not work. But if you hit the car underneath the steering wheel, close to the ignition, the ABS light goes off and the blinkers and brakes work just fine. Also, the brake light comes on on the dash when you apply brakes, but the brake lights work perfectly fine. None of them are out. Like wtf. Heeeeeelp!An aerated brake system will cause the brake light to come on while braking. As of the ABS. The pump module could be going out. It is false ABS braking causing premature activation. A hard brake pedal is also an indication of poor vacuum to the brake booster or a failure of that part. By hitting the area under the ignition switch you could be intermittently disabling the ignition switch and resetting the computer perimeters.



Your symptoms of the stalling is more than likely the cause of one of a few things. 1. check the resistance of your coolant temp sensor located at the left front of the engine by the power steering pump. 2. the front o2 sensor not responding fast enough for the Maf sensor to compensate the fuel curve. 3. check the air induction system for cracks and disconnected vacuum lines. I would personally start with the coolant temp sensor. Its a cheap fix and wreaks havok on the computer and fuel mileage.
